This guide is for Windows, not Linux
Getting VLC to play back my Blackmagic Intensity Pro I/O with my Xbox 360 was a pain in the ass. I spend hours after hours trying to get it to work, configuring, re-configuring and debugging.
My Hardware Specifications:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
Memory: 6,00 GB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 (512MB)
Harddrives:
System Disk (C:) - R/W 60MBps
Capture Raid (E:) - R/W 200MBps
First of we need to configure our Xbox 360 and PC/capture card to match eachothers settings.
On your Xbox 360, Xbox Guide > Settings > System Settings > Console Settings > Display HDTV Settings 720p
On your PC, Control Panel > BlackMagic Control Panel
Output: HDMI & Component
Input: HDMI Video & HDMI Audio
[*] At 7.5 IRE for use in USA
[X] Remove field jitter when video is paused
Output Processing: Off
Input Processing: Off
Now it is time to fire up VLC.
Media > Open Capture Device > Show more options > Edit Options >
:dshow-vdev=Decklink Video Capture :dshow-adev=Decklink Audio Capture :dshow-size=1280x720
:dshow-aspect-ratio=16\:9 :dshow-chroma=UYVY :dshow-fps=59.940001
Hit “PLAY”.
Note: It’s very important that you remember the 59.940001FPS, for some reason that last fraction of a frame can apparently decide whether you will get an output or not.
Also, if anyone can output in VLC without any lag, at any time - drop me a mail. I seem to have some troubles at times with delayed playback - unless I disable sound.
